Static and Dynamic Website: Differences

Introduction

Have you heard something like static and dynamic websites? Do you know what they are? If not, then don’t worry. Board Infinity will help you to clear all these doubts.

In this article, we will discuss the difference between static and dynamic websites. We will discuss what they are. The URL that can be seen in the address bar of the browser can be used to access a website, which is a collection of web pages and other multimedia material like text, images, and videos. Let us understand what a static website is.

Static Website: What is It?

In static websites, the server returns Web pages that are prebuilt source code files created using easy-to-learn languages like HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. According to the user, static websites don’t process content on the server. Static websites are quick because the server always returns the same web pages. Database interactions don’t exist. Additionally, they are less expensive because the host does not have to support server-side processing in various languages.

The term “static” refers to a website that cannot be altered on the server or interact with databases, but it does not imply that it will not respond to user actions. Let us understand its advantages.

Advantages

The simplicity of static websites is where most of their advantages lie. The simplest type of site to create and keep up-to-date is a static site. Static sites are a good choice if you want to launch a simple website quickly and affordably. You can code up a respectable one with minimal effort and expense if you are familiar with HTML and CSS.

Users often find static websites to load more quickly than dynamic ones. This is due to the fact that static websites’ pages are pre-built and require little back-end processing.

Dynamic Website: What is It?

In dynamic websites, the server returns web pages that are processed in real time, meaning they are not prebuilt but rather are created as the user requests them using server-side scripting languages like PHP, Node.js, ASP.NET, and many others that the server supports. They are, therefore, slower than static webpages, although updates and database interaction are still feasible.

In contrast to static websites, which must be altered on each page, dynamic websites allow for a single common modification to be made that will affect all of the web pages. This makes dynamic websites preferable to static websites for updating purposes.  Let us understand its advantages.

Advantages

As a result of their ability to customize your website’s content to each visitor, you can increase conversions and sales by providing a more engaging user experience

Beyond personalization, server-side scripting is extremely strong and opens up a plethora of functional possibilities. Web applications, SaaS software, and rich experiences can all be created using dynamic code, which is simply not possible when using a static approach.

Furthermore, updating a dynamic website at large is much simpler. Instead of updating the source code for each HTML file, site administrators can quickly and easily make extensive changes to their websites. This is a requirement for websites that frequently update their appearance and content to remain relevant in their fields.
