How to clear your download history in Chrome

You can delete all, or some, of your download history. Don’t worry, this won’t erase your actual downloaded files. It just cleans up your Downloads page.

Remove items from your download history

  1. In the top-right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu Description: Chrome menu.
  2. Select Downloads.
  3. For each item you want to delete, click Remove from list.

You can also use the Ctrl+J (Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS) and âŒ˜-Shift-J (Mac) to quickly open the Downloads page.

Clear your download history from a longer period of time

  1. In the top-right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu Description: Chrome menu.
  2. Click History and recent tabs > History.
  3. Select Clear browsing data.
  4. Uncheck every box but “Download history.” It should already be checked for you. Learn more about other types of browsing data you can delete.
