How to set up a Wi-Fi Router

1. Prepare the Equipment

  • Plug in the Router to a power outlet.
  • Connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN or Internet port of the Router.

2. Connect to the Router

  • Use a computer or mobile device to connect to the Wi-Fi network created by the Router (the network name and password are usually on a sticker on the Router).

3. Access the Router Settings

  • Open a web browser and type in the Router’s IP address (commonly 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1).
  • Log in with the username and password (default is usually admin/admin or admin/password).

4. Basic Settings

  • Change the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
  • Choose a secure encryption type (such as WPA2).

5. Additional Settings (if needed)

  • Set the channel to avoid interference.
  • Configure QoS (Quality of Service) to prioritize certain applications or devices.
  • Set up Port Forwarding if you need it for specific applications.

6. Save the Settings

  • Click “Save” or “Apply” to save your settings.

7. Restart the Router

  • Restart the Router to apply the new settings.
