What Is Microsoft Privacy Dashboard?

As online data collection grew and privacy concerns intensified, Microsoft faced backlash and regulatory scrutiny. In response, it launched the Privacy Dashboard
in 2017—a web tool that lets users view and manage the data Microsoft collects. Though not widely known, it serves as a central hub for your Microsoft-related privacy settings. Over the years, the Dashboard has evolved, reflecting changes in Microsoft’s products and data practices.

As of July 2025, Microsoft’s Privacy Dashboard displays data collected on your location, browsing, search, app activity, and Copilot usage. It also shows which apps access your Microsoft account, suggests contacts, and tracks your interests for personalization.

The dashboard includes controls for ad personalization and promotional communications. While it features a “privacy checkup” tool, it’s mostly focused on account security and promotes using the Edge browser, falling short compared to similar tools from Google and Meta.
