What is n8n?

n8n (pronounced “en-eight-en” or “nodemation”) is an automation tool for creating custom workflows without deep coding knowledge. With its visual interface and ready-made templates, you can connect apps, move data, and automate tasks across systems—boosting productivity and eliminating repetitive work.

How does n8n work?
n8n works like connecting puzzle pieces, where each piece (node) is an action—such as sending an email, updating a spreadsheet, or fetching API data. Nodes form workflows triggered by an event (e.g., form submission, email, or app activity)
and executed automatically in sequence. Built through a visual, no-code interface, workflows can range from simple tasks to complex, multistep processes. You can create them from scratch or use over 1,250 pre-made templates.

Common n8n use cases include:
1. Notifications – Send alerts via Slack, email, or SMS when triggered (e.g., a new order on your site).
2. Data sync – Keep information consistent between platforms like a CRM and project management tool.
3. Invoice & payment processing – Automate payment retries, fraud checks, and invoice generation.
4. Reporting – Gather data, fill report templates, and share links before meetings.
5. Web scraping & data collection – Extract, structure, and store data from websites or apps.
6. Smart home automation – Control devices based on location, like turning off lights when leaving home.
