Lync Mobile 2013 For iOS devices

This article applies to Exchange 2013 accounts. To set up iPhone click here. To set up iPad click here.

Note: Lync Mobile 2013 isn’t compatible with any earlier Lync Server versions (i.e., if you’re hosted on Exchange 2007/2010, Lync Mobile 2013 will not work for you).

Please make sure that Skype for Business Secure Chat and Conferencing is enabled for the user you are going to setup. If not then you will need to enable it first. Read our Knowledge Base article on How Do I Enable Skype For Business For A User? for more information.

To set up iPhone:

  1. Install Lync 2013 mobile client on the iPhone.
  2. Launch application and input the following settings:
    • Sign-in Address: Email address for the mailbox you want to set up.
    • Password: Mailbox password.
    • User Name: Email address for the mailbox you want to set up.
    • Auto-Detect Server: OFF
  3. Input External Discovery URL and Internal Discovery URL. You can find them in:
    • for admins: HostPilot >  Services > Skype for Business > Instructions
    • for users: My Services > Collaboration & File Management > Skype for Business
  4. Tap Sign-In button.

Note: Microsoft implementation of push notifications for Lync makes them impossible in the hosted environment. The issue is to be resolved by Microsoft.

To set up iPad:

  1. Install Lync 2013 mobile client on the iPad.
  2. Launch application and input the following settings:
    • Sign-in Address: Email address for the mailbox you want to set up.
    • Password: Mailbox password.
    • User Name: Email address for the mailbox you want to set up.
    • Auto-Detect Server: OFF
  3. Input External Discovery URL and Internal Discovery URL. You can find them in:
    • for admins: HostPilot >  Services > Skype for Business > Instructions
    • for users: My Services > Collaboration & File Management > Skype for Business
  4. Tap Sign-In button.
