How to crimp a Cat6 cable

Straight-Through Cable

Color coding: White-Orange, Orange; White-Green, Blue; White-Blue, Green; White-Brown, Brown

Note: Arrange the colors in this sequence on both ends, which is the Straight-Through Cable.

Steps for crimping a CAT6 cable head.

3. Cable jacket stripper (to prevent accidental unlocking)

4. CAT6 connector plug with CAT6 connector head (included in the package)

5. Crimping tool

 

1. Cover the cable by inserting the Cat6 Ethernet cable into the coupler at the keystone jack position.

 

2. If it’s an old-style plug, apply gentle force. Then, hold it so you can see the blade and twist it.

 

3. Once the insulation is stripped to the point where it can be pulled off, use your hand to twist the wire to prevent the inner core from breaking.

 

4. Cut the guide core and the shielding fiber.

 

5. Twist it out and separate the colors according to the formula above. Hold the base tightly with one hand and grasp the middle, almost near the tip, with the other hand. Then, use a twisting motion to bend it toward yourself and then bend it outward.

 

6. Use diagonal cutting pliers to cut upwards, ensuring the front-most color is on top (to make it easier to insert the wires into the Cat6 connector

 

7. Insert from white to orange and follow down in order of height (pointed end facing up). Push the guide wire in almost fully, then use your dominant hand to hold the guide wire in place to prevent it from bouncing around.

 

8. Prepare to insert the guide wire into the Cat6 plug with the pointed end facing up and the Cat6 plug facing up. Insert it straight in by gently pushing to check the position before pushing hard to prevent the cable from fraying.

 

9. When you have the correct configuration, use your right hand to hold the LAN head and your left hand to push the cable in fully. If you can push the cable deeply as shown in the picture, it indicates a job well done, and the connection signal will be nearly 100% stable, ensuring long-term usability.

 

10. Insert the Cat6 cable into the 8P (8-pin gold) connector. Crimp the Cat6 connector by squeezing it firmly but not too hard.

 

11. Connect the cable tester and ensure all 8 pairs of wires have continuity with electricity.
