How to set up DHCP Server

Step1. Connect your PC to ASUS router via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable. Then open a web browser and enter the router’s IP or http://router.asus.com to enter the Web GUI.

Step 2. Enter your router’s username and password to log in.

NOTE: If you forget your username and/or password, Please restore the router to Factory default status

Step3. Go to the LAN tab > “DHCP Server”

Step 4. Enable the DHCP server function to let the router’s DHCP server automatically assign IP addresses to network clients.

Note :  If this function is disabled, you will need to manually assign IP addresses for your LAN devices

Step 5. You can name your router for clients that request IP addresses from the DHCP server. It consists of letters, numbers, and dashes.

Step 6. You can configure the first and last service addresses to be assigned by the DHCP server in the LAN.

Note : For example, if the router LAN IP is 192.168.8.1, you can configure your IP address to 192.168.8.2 to 192.168.8.254 (equivalent to a total of 253 IPs).

Step 7. Sets the lease time at which network customers will be allowed to use the current IP address to connect to the wireless router

Note : When the lease time expires, the network client should either get a renewal or a new IP address in the wireless router’s DHCP server. The default is set to 86,400 seconds.

Step 8. You can configure the IP address of the gateway on your LAN. If you leave it blank, the IP address of the router will be assigned

Step 9. DNS Server: You can configure the DNS IP address so that clients request an IP address from the DHCP server. If you leave it blank, the DNS request will be processed by the router.  WINS Server: The Windows Internet Naming Service manages the interaction of individual computers with Internet access. If you are using a WINS server, please enter the IP address of the server.

Step 10. If you want to manually assign an IP for the device Manual configuration is enabled and you can view the device name in the MAC address. Select the device you want to configure

Step 11. After selecting, you will see the device’s MAC address and IP address, which is currently used. You can set the IP address directly or manually edit the IP address whatever you want Then click the Add/Remove button And finally click Apply.
