Understanding DHCP Errors: Causes and Solutions

1. Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter. One of the easiest ways to solve internet connection issues is to let Windows auto-correct the settings.
Right-click the network connection icon in the taskbar and choose **Troubleshoot- problems**. The troubleshooter identifies any settings causing the issue. If DHCP settings are at fault, select **Apply this fix** to make the suggested adjustments.

2. Check the DHCP adapter settings. Your DHCP server or router typically auto-assigns an IP address to your computer. However, this feature can be disabled, so ensure it’s enabled in your network adapter settings.

3. Check the DHCP router settings. On a home network, DHCP settings in the router manage the IP addresses of devices on the network. Verify that the DHCP beginning and ending addresses match the gateway address.

4. Contact IT support. On a typical corporate network, a DNS server controls device IP addresses. The IT department manages all DHCP settings. If you face network connection problems, reach out to your IT help desk.
